Push Requests — Booking on Behalf of a Parent
If a parent is unable to book online — for example, they do not have access to email or require assistance — a staff member can book on their behalf directly from the push request list. The system temporarily switches to the parent booking view, allows time slot selection, and then returns the staff member to their normal view.
Starting a proxy booking
- Open the booking round and go to the Push Requests list (click on row #20).
- Locate the student you are booking for. You can use the search box at the top of the table to look for names or SMS numbers.
- Click the action button on that student’s row and select Book on behalf of parent.
- A dialog opens confirming the student’s name and, if the student has more than one parent on record, asking you to select which parent you are booking as.
- Click Go to booking page.
Making the booking
The screen switches to the parent booking view. A banner at the top of the page identifies that you are booking on behalf of the parent, and shows a Return to staff view link.
- Select a time slot for each teacher, exactly as the parent would.
- The booking is confirmed in the same way as a parent booking.
- When all bookings are complete, click Return to staff view to go back to the push request list.
After the proxy booking
The push request list updates to show the booking as complete. The booking is recorded against the parent’s account in exactly the same way as if the parent had booked themselves.
If the booked time needs to be changed later, this can be done from the Push Requests list by locating the student and selecting the same menu option “Book on behalf of parent”.
Notes
- The proxy booking feature is available to all teaching staff.
- The staff member’s own session is paused while they are in the parent view — their work is not lost.
- All proxy bookings are recorded in the system audit log.
